New Honda Engine Plant Drives Green Jobs

It’s the third manufacturing facility to be opened at this site. It will produce approximately 200,000 fuel-efficient four-cylinder engines per year for the Honda Civic model, and employ about 340 workers. Production began on September 15, 2008.

While I’m waiting around for full electric vehicles, more fuel-efficient 4-cylinder vehicles are better than nothing.

“Companies such as ARISE are creating technologies that have both a significant environmental impact and demonstrate a compelling return on investment. In doing so, they are helping position Canada as a global leader in the development of commercially-viable green technology,” explained Ruffolo.

Increase your profits by cutting your energy costs

The majority of small business owners adopt energy efficient strategies for one or two reasons: because they are encouraged to do so by an important business partner or because it will make their businesses more efficient and more profitable, says Bruce McConnell, vice-president, BDC Consulting.

This offer has apparently been running for more than a year. Pretty simple. Buy a pair of Blundstone boots and, in conjunctions with Evergreen, they’ll plant a tree in Canada.

Beginning summer 2007, each pair of Blundstone boots sold in Canada will support Evergreen’s treeplanting and urban naturalization projects across the country.

Staples Canada launches the Million Cartridge Challenge

If you’ve got any old ink cartridges lying around, Staples in interested in them.

STAPLES is challenging Canadians to participate in their Million Cartridge Challenge - a quest to help reroute one million ink and toner cartridges away from landfill sites by Earth Day, April 22, 2009.

This one has a touch of greenwashing to it. Of course, Staples wants you to pick up some replacement cartridges when you throw your old ones out. A better solution is to reuse old cartridges by filling them up at Island Inkjet or somewhere like that. Heck the Island Inkjet Why Refill? page spells out the benefits of refilling pretty clearly.

But if you have any old, dried out, useless cartridges lying about, Staples is there to help.

I can’t seem to find a link to this news anywhere but my local paper has a story about a $258 000 organic farming grant becoming available through the Growing Up Organic program. Additional information can be found at the Advancing Canadian Agriculture and Agri-Food Program apparently but I didn’t see anything there regarding this announcement either.
