Hybrid vehicle rebates produce scant environmental benefits, high cost
Brutal indictment of the hybrid vehicle rebates. In a nutshell, folks who were already inclined to buy a small, fuel-efficient regular gas vehicle instead bought a hybrid. The gain of going from a fuel-efficient vehicle to a hybrid is comparatively small. The SUV and truck lovers were not swayed into trading down to something much smaller. Verdict: Rebate more or less wasted.
The grocery-bag dilemma: Is paper or plastic greener?
The debate drags on. The article even trots out the study that reusable bags harbour all sorts of nasty bugs. Of course, washing your bags with that load of laundry you were doing any way would, you know, solve this problem. For some reason, no one seems to mention that.

I’ve seen plenty of massive windmill blades and pillars heading to their destination in the early morning (I live close to a very large wind farm) and it’s a sight to see. Of course, those parts have to come from somewhere and shipping by rail is one solution.

As much I like the Smart car (mediocre gas mileage aside), that’s not he solution for everyone. Here’s a list of the best family vehicles for green consumers. Funny thing: The current green car champ (the clean diesel Jetta) doesn’t make the list.
WCI student isolates microbe that lunches on plastic bags
This one is a bit old but I missed it. That’s a fantastic accomplishment for a teenager. I can’t say my own science experiments were so successful.

TEST DRIVE: Toyota continues its green approach with 2010 Prius
Every Canadian Green Business likely has a vehicle of some sort, even if it’s just for getting to and from work. Personally, I’m not a big fan of hybrids (I see more potential in straight electric vehicles) but they have their place. Check out the article for a test drive of the latest version of the Prius.
Jetta diesel trumps hybrids to win green car of year
I’m a fan of clean diesels so this is good news. Consider the Jetta for your Canadian Green Business. If you actually need a car, that is. It may not be as obvious as the Prius but are you in it for the image or to change the world?
You’ll know that paint is environmentally kosher, if the can sports a trio of doves

STAPLES Canada survey finds most are thinking about the environment when back-to-school shopping
Yes, it’s back to school time already and retailers are ramping things up. Of course, the press release is sure to mention the many green products you can purchase at Staples.
Ontario rebates aim to spark electric car sales
I’m kind of on the fence about this one. It’s a reasonable idea but carbon/gas taxes is likely a better way to get people to switch to more efficient vehicles. But good luck with getting somewhere with that idea.
